The City of Solvang is working with local business and property owners to explore the feasibility and interest of a Business Improvement District (BID) or Property-Based Improvement District (PBID) in the area. Improvement districts are ways for local business or property owners to pool funding to bring extra services to their area.

Examples of these services being considered include:

• Security officers, video cameras, and foot patrols
• Weekly power-washing of sidewalks
• More clean and safe public restrooms (including janitorial services)
• Music and speakers to bring back energy downtown
• Parking management and enforcement
• Restaurant queue management
