In this post, CivicMic shares the DSMA survey.
CivicMic works with the Downtown San Mateo Association ("DSMA") to facilitate community outreach and public engagement opportunities to determine the level of public support for the expansion of existing services and activities to enhance the value for the Downtown Business Improvement Area ("DBIA"). The DSMA would like to engage the community in a discussion about how the fee structure can be changed to become more equitable to all business owners and raise revenue so that DSMA activities can continue for many years to come.
The DSMA has proposed a new revenue target of $350,000 to hire an executive director, expand existing services and activities, and create additional value for the downtown area. The current fee provides $190,000 in annual revenue. The proposed fee structure is more equitable and fair because it takes into account the changes that have occurred in downtown San Mateo, reflects the benefits received by businesses in the DBIA, ensures the viability of the DSMA, and provides additional funding required for enhancement and expansion of services.
