The district can only keep up with rising costs for utilities and maintenance by raising your assessment amounts. The city has launched a Proposition 218 ballot procedure, offering the chance to secure funds to maintain shared public places in your neighborhood. If the effort fails, services in your area will be cut to match the money collected each year.

• The city understands the challenges that come with any cost increase, especially when they are significant. However, the city wants to assure residents that this proposed increase is necessary to address long-overdue expenses that should have been addressed over the years. The Public Works Department is now working to proactively implement measures to ensure the sustainability and stability of your community's financial well-being for years to come.
• The city appreciates the valuable feedback provided by the community regarding the previous bid process. The city understands that choosing the lowest bid alone, may not always guarantee the best quality service. That is why it has adjusted the purchasing policy starting in 2020, to allow for more flexibility in the selection process. By thoroughly vetting potential service providers, it can now confidently choose landscape companies that will provide the highest quality of service at a fair and reasonable price. This will ensure that the community will receive the best services possible.
• The city is happy to announce that if passed, the proposed district will receive an increased level of general benefit compared to the current district. The city understands that residents have expressed concerns about the level of support provided by the city in the past. That is why the city has made a commitment to allocate additional resources to the proposed district. In the coming weeks, the city will release the full budget and engineering report, which will provide detailed information on the scope of benefit and cost analysis.
