In this post, CivicMic shares instructions on how to download the Zoom app and join the Stanislaus County virtual workshops.
Stanislaus County (the "County") and CivicMic are hosting in-person and virtual workshops, between June 7th and June 20th, where residents and/or property owners can help identify which improvements are important to their community. Please click here to see the workshop schedule. If you cannot attend an in-person workshop, there will be two virtual workshops; one in Spanish on June 15th and one in English on June 20th. The virtual meetings will run for only 30 minutes and will begin at 5:30 PM.

How to Join the Stanislaus County Virtual Workshops
Prepare for the meeting: Download and Install Zoom
- Planning to participate with your Windows PC or Mac? Click here for the Zoom Download Center and download the "Zoom Client for Meetings" (the first option).
- Planning to participate with your iPhone or iPad? Use your iPhone or iPad to access the App Store, search and download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app.
- Planning to participate with your Android phone or device? Use your Android phone or device to access the Google Play Store, search and download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app.
Join the Meeting by Telephone (Conference Call)
- CivicMic will post the following information before the start of the meeting:
- The telephone number to call.
- Meeting identification number.
- A numeric password.
- The following will occur when you dial the meeting's telephone number:
- You will be prompted for the meeting identification number followed by the pound (#) sign.
- You will be prompted for a participant identification number. We will not require a participant number - just hit the pound (#) sign.
- You will be prompted for the numeric password followed by the pound (#) sign.
- You will be placed on hold until admitted by the host to the meeting. Please note that the meeting starts at 5:30 PM (PST). Participants will be placed on hold until the start of the meeting.
- Once in the meeting, you will be muted by the host during the presentation. This is done so that everyone can hear the presenters loud and clear. However, during the questions and answers part of the presentation, you may unmute and mute yourself by selecting *6 on the keypad. Please keep your phone muted at all times except when asking questions.
Join the Meeting Using the Zoom App on a Mobile Device, Desktop, or Laptop (Preferred Method)
- Please read and follow the instructions above on how to download and install the Zoom app.
- Please click here to test your Zoom installation by joining a test meeting.
- If prompted, please select "Open Zoom Meetings" and join with or without video. Practice a few times before the meeting so you can get comfortable with the settings in Zoom. Click here to access the Zoom Help Center.
- CivicMic will post the following information the day of the meeting:
- The link to click on and automatically load the meeting with Zoom. There is not much to do other than clicking on our link to load the meeting if you have already installed Zoom (on your mobile phone, iPad, Android device, desktop, or laptop) and have used Zoom before.
- The link already contains the meeting identification number.
- The link already contains a numeric password.
- Note that you will be muted by the host during the presentation. This is done so that everyone can hear the presenters loud and clear. Please keep mute on at all times except when asking questions.
- During the questions and answers part of the presentation, you may unmute and mute yourself by clicking on the bottom left corner of the Zoom menu.
- During the meeting, you may click on the "Chat" menu option to submit your questions. Please wait until the end of all of the presentations as many questions may already be addressed.
Join the Meeting by Internet Browser on a Desktop or Laptop Without Installing Zoom
- CivicMic will post the following information before the start of the meeting:
- The link with the web address to click on and automatically load the meeting.
- The link already contains the meeting identification number.
- The link already contains a numeric password.
- The following will occur when you click on the link with the web address:
- You will be prompted to download & run Zoom (the preferred method) or simply click on the "join from your browser" to proceed without installing Zoom.
- Note, the "join from your browser" method does not work in the Safari browser (iPhone/iPad). Zoom requires the app to be installed if using an iPhone or iPad. Please refer to the instructions for the preferred method above.
- You will be prompted to enter your name and confirm you are not a robot. For security reasons, you may be prompted to play a game of clicking on pictures that match a specific object. Please just follow the directions until it confirms you are not a robot. Then click Join.
- You will be placed on hold until admitted by the host to the meeting. Please note that the meeting starts at 5:30 PM (PST). Participants will be placed on hold until the start of the meeting.
- Once admitted to the meeting, you will be prompted to select how you want to hear the presentation.
- If you are comfortable using your desktop or laptop with speakers routinely, then select "Computer Audio."
- Otherwise, select "Phone Call" and you will be provided the same conference call information as if joining the meeting by telephone above. In this case, you will view the presentation on the browser but hear the presentation through your telephone.
- Once admitted to the meeting, you will be prompted to select how you want to hear the presentation.
- Note that you will be muted by the host during the presentation. This is done so that everyone can hear the presenters loud and clear. Please keep mute on at all times except when asking questions.
- If using the telephone for audio, you may unmute and mute by selecting *6 on the keypad.
- If using the desktop or laptop audio, you unmute and mute by clicking on the bottom left corner of the Zoom menu.
- Note that you will be muted by the host during the presentation. This is done so that everyone can hear the presenters loud and clear. Please keep mute on at all times except when asking questions.
- During the meeting, you may click on the "Chat" menu option to submit your questions. Please wait until the end of all of the presentations as many questions may already be addressed.
