La Habra Heights Annual Reports for Fiscal Year 2021-22

The City of La Habra Heights ("City") annual reports for the Street Maintenance Assessment District No. 7 ("SMD 7")(the "District") and the Fire Prevention, Protection, and Life Safety Services Special Tax have been published.  The annual charges were approved by the City Council on June 14, 2021, and appear on the secured property tax bill of properties within the City limits.

Street Maintenance Assessment District No. 7

The City formed SMD 7 in 2017 to fund street maintenance and drainage improvements. The first time the City levied the District was for Fiscal Year 2018/19. The District will continue to be levied for a ten-year term until 2027/28.

In Fiscal Year 2021/22, 2,166 parcels have been levied for a total of $421,456.91. The assessments were levied at 99.7% of the maximum rate per benefit unit. The City may charge up to an established maximum rate that is increased annually by the lesser of 3% or the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).  The maximum rates for Fiscal Year 2021/22
increased by 2.19%.

Fire Prevention, Protection, and Life Safety Services Special Tax

The City established the special tax in July 1997, pursuant to Ordinance 219, to fund fire protection, fire prevention, and life safety services provided by the City's Fire Department.

The special tax appears on the secured property tax bill of properties within the City limits and will be charged for as long as necessary to fund these services.

In Fiscal Year 2021/22, 2,148 parcels have been levied for a total of $1,254,067.61. The City may charge up to an established maximum rate that is increased annually by the lesser of 3% or the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).  The maximum rate for Fiscal Year 2021/22 was increased by 1.02%. These charges were levied at the maximum rate allowed.
