CivicMic works with the Ocean Avenue Association to facilitate community outreach and public engagement opportunities for the renewal and extension of the Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District ("District") that funds improvements, operations, maintenance, and activities within the District.

The District is approaching the renewal period and the Ocean Avenue Association is considering increasing the services provided and expanding the boundaries of the District. Preliminary Timeline for the Renewal and Expansion of the Ocean Avenue CBD
As of July 21, 2022
Surveys are mailed out to property owners to give them an opportunity to provide feedback regarding the expansion and renewal of the CBD.
Renewal Documents are Submitted
Renewal documents are submitted to the Office of Economic & Workforce Development (OEWD) for review by OEWD and the City Attorney.
Districtwide Community Meeting
Host community meeting to discuss the renewal and expansion of the CBD and allow community members a chance to ask questions and give feedback.
September 11, 2023
Mail petitions to property owners within the boundaries of the new Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District.
December 1, 2023
Submit Petitions to the City
Petitions are submitted to the City. Need 30% of Proposed Assessment in Support.
Assessment Engineer's Report and Management District Plan
Completion of the new assessment engineer's report including the separation and quantification of special and general benefit, and proposed new rates. Completion of the new Management District Plan.

Intent to Form the New CBD
The Board of Supervisors considers the Resolution of Intention to Form the new Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District and the Resolution Preliminarily Approving the Engineer's Report and Management Plan. The Board also sets the date and time of the Public Hearing.

Notice of Public Hearing and Ballots
Mail Notice and Assessment Ballot to property owners subject to the new proposed Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District (no less than 45 days prior to the Public Hearing and tabulation of ballots).
May 7, 2024
Public Hearing and Ballot Tabulation
The Board of Supervisors conducts the public hearing and ballot tabulation; The Board considers the Resolution of Formation and Confirms the Assessments (at least 45 days after the mailing of the assessment ballots).
Charges Submitted to the County
Newly formed Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District charges are submitted to the County for placement on the secured property tax bills.
