The Fairfield LLMD results underscore the community’s democratic participation in shaping the city’s future. California state law determines this ballot procedure by ‘weighted’ ballots. A ‘majority protest’ happens when the total amount of money represented by the ‘no’ votes is more than the total amount represented by the ‘yes’ votes. So, even if more people mark ‘yes’ if the ‘no’ marks represent more money, then the ‘no’ marks create a majority protest. This stops …
