A big thank you to everyone that participated in the ReNew Oxnard Team 3-10 community meeting on February 18, 2021, to engage citizens in a collaborative effort to find and implement solutions for the revitalization of the following Oxnard communities:
- Country Club Estates
- Cypress Point
- River Ridge
Participation at the meeting (via telephone and Zoom) was a big success. Everyone had great questions showing a high level of interest, community pride, and engagement at the meeting. In this post, CivicMic shares the video, slides, and chat for the meeting.
ReNew Oxnard Team 3-10 - Next Steps
- CivicMic to coordinate the creation of a citizens committee.
- CivicMic to provide support to the citizens committee for outreach efforts.
- CivicMic to work with the Special Districts Division to prepare a cost estimate.
- Review approach and cost estimate at the next meeting.
ReNew Oxnard Team 3-10 - Homework
- Volunteers needed for the citizens committee - please email Danielle at dwood@civicmic.com to volunteer.
Important: The maintenance of the improvements outside the communities (perimeter, parkways, medians) is currently funded by the general fund (not the landscape maintenance districts).
Important: The formation of an assessment district, special tax (such as a community facilities district (also known as a "Mello-Roos")), parcel tax, and other types of property taxation must be approved by the affected property owners or registered voters. The City can't form these districts and other types of property taxation without a vote, as prescribed by law.
