Update on Funding for the City of San Leandro Neptune Drive Project

In this post, CivicMic shares some good news about the City of San Leandro Neptune Drive Shoreline Flood Protection Project. This is also known as the “Neptune Drive Project” to build a new levee to prevent neighborhood flooding. The City was notified that a federal grant has been approved to help fund this project by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This will result in the potential movement of approximately 1,000 properties in the community out of the 100-year flood zone to the lower-risk 500-year flood zone. The City of San Leandro is working bilaterally with the County to find funding solutions to remove the parcels in the proposed Benefit Assessment District boundaries from being designated by FEMA as being in the 100-year flood zone to the lower-risk 500-year flood zone.
