A Business Improvement District (BID) is a group set up by local businesses to make their area better. Think of it as a team effort where everyone pitches in to make the neighborhood cleaner, safer, and more attractive and successful. Here's how it works:

  • Collective Benefits: By working together, businesses can achieve improvements they couldn’t manage alone. It’s about creating a better environment for everyone.
  • Funding: Businesses in the area agree to pay a set amount each year. This money is collected over several years.
  • Similar to Special Assessments: BIDs are a lot like special assessment districts where the funds collected are used for specific local improvements.
  • Additional Revenue: Besides the regular contributions, BIDs often identify other ways to bring in money to support their projects.
